WATERLOO – Roger L. Lerkins, 73, of Waterloo, NY, passed away at his home Wednesday (February 21, 2024). Family and friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday (March 1) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, 46 W. Main St., Waterloo, NY. The funeral service will immediately follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Spring burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beverly's Animal Shelter, 50 E. River St., Waterloo, NY 13165. Roger was born September 11, 1950, Waterloo, NY, the son of Raymond C. and Vera A. Gibbs Lerkins. He was a 1968 graduate of Waterloo Central High School. Roger earned is Associates degree in Business from RBI. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1971 to 1975. Returning from the service he worked for Millbrook Bread, Stroehlmann Bread, Kaufman Bread, and later retired from Arnold Bread. He was a member of the Warner VanRiper Post 435, American Legion. He is survived by daughters Angel D. Lerkins and April (Kristofer Jeffers) Lerkins, both of Waterloo, NY; sister Dawn Robbins of Waterloo, NY; many nieces and nephews. Roger was predeceased by the love of his life, Emma M. Johnson Lerkins in 2020; his parents; and siblings Duane Lerkins, Raymond "Buddy" Lerkins and Janet Pitts.
