WATERLOO — Thomas Peter Kierst, 79, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (January 24, 2024) at Albany Medical Center. Calling hours will be 11 AM to 1 PM Saturday (February 3, 2024) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, 46 West Main St, Waterloo, NY. The funeral service will follow at 1 PM at the funeral home. Rev. James Fennessy, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, will officiate. Spring burial be at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Penn Yan, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beverly Animal Shelter, 50 East River Rd, Waterloo, NY 13165. Tom was born June 16, 1944 in Waterloo, NY, the son of Paul A. and Helene Keyser Kierst. He was a graduate of Waterloo High School. He worked as a Security Officer for Hillside Children's Center in Varick, NY. In 1979, Tom married the love of his life, Anne. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Anne Kierst of Waterloo, NY; sons Joshua (Ashley) Kierst of Waterloo, NY and Jacob (Kristy) Kierst of Pine City, NY; and grandchildren Rhylee, Paiton, CeJay, Millie, Jacob II and Leo; and many cousins. He is also remembered by his good friend Jimmy Bienvenue. Tom enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his sons and grandchildren.
