JUNIUS/WATERLOO - Barbara A Laird, 79, passed away peacefully (December 9,2022) at her home with her loving family by her side. In keeping with the wishes of the family there will be no calling hours. There will be a private service. Spring burial at Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo NY. In lieu of flowers please consider sending a memorial contribution to the Waterloo Library and Historical Society 31 E Williams St Waterloo NY 13165. Barb was born October 5, 1943, in Waterloo, NY the daughter of Robert B and Kathryn A (Kaiser) Porter. She was a 1961 graduate of Waterloo Central High School. Barb and Jim married December 1, 1962. Barb was employed with the Seneca Army Depot and later with Seneca County Co-op for many years until the farm required her to be there full-time. Barb and Jim made sure the family always had down time and would take a yearly trek in February to Disney in the camper with close family friends, the Meyers, Sutterbys and Whites. She worked alongside her husband, Jim, managing Laird Farms where she was the secretary, treasurer and scheduler along with many other titles. Along with all those titles she always had a hot meal on the table and the coffee pot was never dry. Barb also made sure you took those greasy boots off before you got onto her floors. Barb and Jim traveled often following their favorite Blue Grass Bands from NY to Florida. She formerly attended the Waterloo Baptist Church. She served as a member of the board of directors for the Waterloo Library and Historical Society for many years until Parkinson's Disease made it impossible for her to participate. She loved to bake and made the best Apple and Strawberry-Rhubarb Pies! Barb was blessed with a green thumb and made gardening seem effortless. She loved her flowers and it showed as people would stop to admire her flower beds around the farm. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, James E Laird, Sr; children: Brian (Terry Ison) Laird of Waterloo, NY; Kim Laird of Shreveport, LA; Jeffrey (Jennifer) Laird of West Henrietta, NY; James E., Jr. (Theresa) Laird of Waterloo, NY; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; sister Jean (Joseph) Kime of Waterloo, NY; special cousin Louise (Robert) Bush of Wolcott, NY; lifelong friend Ruth (Gassner) Brown of Waterloo, NY; one niece; two nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews. Barb was preceded in death by her parents. Condolences and remembrances may be sent to www.coegenungfuneralhome.com.
