Waterloo – George I. Plate, Sr., 84, 1297 Old State Road, died Wednesday (December 7, 2016) at Geneva General Hospital, with his family by his side. In keeping with the wishes of the family there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday (Dec.14) at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Varick. Rev. Floyd Marsh, pastor of Harvest Field Baptist Church, will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Waterloo Memorial Day Post 6433, VFW. George was born Oct. 5, 1932, in Fayette, the son of George W. and Lena Rogers Plate. He was a U. S. Army veteran having served in Korea. George was employed with Zotos International in Geneva for twelve years, then for other companies, until he joined Carpenter Union 276 in Rochester. He retired in 1989. George was a member of Waterloo Memorial Day Post 6433, VFW. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marjorie Laube Plate; sons, George (Kim) I. Plate, Jr., Alan (Jennifer) Plate both of Waterloo and Gary (Linda) Plate of Pittsford; daughter, Laurie (Larry) Fancher of Waterloo; grandchildren, Heather Fancher, Tara Plate, Lyle Fancher, Daniel Plate, and Meghan Plate; sister-in-law, Lorriane (Gary) Veeder of Waterloo; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
