Seneca Falls – Julia R. Gibbs, 81, of 192 Ovid St., died Thursday (July 28, 2016) in Geneva General Hospital. There will be no calling hours. The memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday (Aug. 5) at Calvary Chapel, 2291 Rt. 89, Seneca Falls. Ray Torrey, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo. Julia was born Dec. 20, 1934, in Luzerne, PA, the daughter of William and Alvenna Morgan Carey. She attended school in Plymouth, PA. Julia was a factory worker in PA, an editor at Newsweek in NYC for ten years, Simplicity cutting clothing in LI for ten years and owned a gas station in Canandaigua. She loved writing and singing gospel songs. Julia was a member of Calvary Chapel in Seneca Falls. She loved working in her flower garden and watching the hummingbirds by the window. Julia is survived by her husband, Kenneth F. Gibbs; stepsons, Brent (Carol) Gibbs of Seneca Falls, Stanley Gibbs of Phoenix, AZ, Richard Gibbs off Columbus, OH, and Gary Gibbs of Las Vegas, NV; stepdaughters, Jean Gibbs of Waterloo and Joanne Alvino of Waverly; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, George (Elizabeth) Carey of Panda, WI, Frank (Jean) Carey of Larksville, PA, Robert (Harriet) Carey of Phelps and Thomas (Shirley) Carey of Elmendorf, TX; sisters, Beatrice Buczkowski of Fairport and Mary Fox of Rochester; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Carey of Columbus, OH; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by stepson, Dale Gibbs. She was predeceased by brothers, William, David, and Daniel Carey; sisters, Cora Neely, Florence Texerie, Ida Morrison, Brenda Carey, and Jeanette Harrington.
