WATERLOO/SENECA FALLS – Gertrude A. Jones, 103, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Seneca Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with her family by her side.

Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, June 5 at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, Waterloo, N.Y. The funeral will immediately follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Bishop James Thibert, of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints – Fayette Ward, will officiate. Burial will be in Sandhill Cemetery, Stanley, N.Y.

Gertrude was born in Waterloo, N.Y., the daughter of George Washington and Minetta Hosford Cooley. She was a 1940 graduate of Mynderse Academy in Seneca Falls. Gertrude worked along her husband's side from 1941 to 1955 operating the family dairy farm. In 1955, she began working at Willard Psychiatric Hospital, working for 25 years before she retired. She was a long and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints – Fayette Ward.

She is survived by three daughters Shirley (Ronald) Steele and Kathleen Rowlinson both of Romulus, N.Y. and Nancy (Charles, Jr. "Peanut") Luffman of Seneca Falls, N.Y.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; daughters-in-law Sheryl Jones of Seneca Falls, N.Y. and Linda Jones of Waterloo, N.Y.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Gertrude was predeceased by her husband Donald R. Jones; sons Daniel G. Jones and Milton A. Jones; grandson Daniel G. Jones, Jr.; brothers Harold Cooley, Lewis Cooley, Donald Cooley, Lloyd Cooley, and James Cooley; sister Mabel Andrews; son-in-law Harry Rowlinson; and former son-in-law Stephen Tillinghast.
