WATERLOO – Irving J. Buchholz, 98, of Waterloo, NY, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026 in Huntington Living Center with his family by his side.

Family and friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 28 at the Coe-Genung Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 29 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Waterloo United Methodist Church, 21 E. Main St., Waterloo, NY, 13165.

Irving was born July 27, 1927, in Seneca Falls, NY, the son of Irving and Laura Hammond Buchholz. He was a 1945 graduate of Waterloo High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during W. W. II. Returning from the service he was employed with the A & P, then the Acme Markets until the Acme stores closed. Irving then worked for the Seneca County Maintenance Department retiring at the age of 81. When he was a young man, he worked two summers for Mid-State building woodie station wagons. He cared for and repaired his old 1955 Willy Jeep and his 1966 AMC Rambler Station Wagon. One of his favorite pastimes was hunting. He was a member of the Waterloo United Methodist Church. Irving was a longtime member of Warner VanRiper Post 435, American Legion. He was also a member of the AMC Rambler Club and the Finger Lakes CB Radio Club.

He is survived by his sons Daniel (Karen) Buchholz of Geneva, NY, Lynn (Mai) Buchholz and William I. Buchholz both of Waterloo, NY; brother Robert Buchholz of Waterloo, NY; nephew Steve of Seneca Falls, NY; and many cousins.

Irving was predeceased by his parents and the love of his life and wife M. Eileen Buchholz.
