N. CAYUGA – David J. Doeing, 79, of N. Cayuga, NY, passed away Sunday (December 14, 2025) at Pathway Home of the Finger Lakes, with his loving family by his side.

Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday (December 20th) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, 46 W. Main St., Waterloo, NY. The memorial service will immediately follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. James Fennessy, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, will officiate. Spring burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Scipio Center, NY.

David was born June 30, 1946, in Auburn, NY, the son of Gerald and Kathleen Knight Doeing. He was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School in Auburn, NY. David attend Cayuga County Community College. He was a Vietnam War veteran having served in the US Army. Returning from the service, David was employed with the Seneca Army Depot. Eventually he became a corrections officer working at Greenhaven, Attica, and Auburn Correctional Facilities for 32 years. David was a member of the Walter T. Conely American Legion Post 1107 and the Auburn VFW Post 1975. David was a congregant of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Auburn, NY. He was an avid fisherman and duck hunter. He spent his life with his late wife and family traveling and camping. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friend Arnold "Poncho" Gratton.

He is survived by his daughters Colleen Xavier of Fayetteville, NY and Denise (Kevin) Baylor of Cayuga; granddaughters Hannah Baylor and Sydney Xavier; siblings Kathleen Scozzari of Auburn, NY, Gerard (Muriel) Doeing of Camillus, NY, Susan (Donald) Bunn of Cayuga, NY, Barbara (Daniel) Sawran of Ponce Inlet, FL, William (Brenda) Doeing of Genoa, NY, and Thomas (Michele) Doeing, of Liverpool, NY; former son-in-law Brent Xavier of Tully, NY; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

David was predeceased by his wife Norma J. Doeing; and his parents.
