WATERLOO — Robert Alan Gnau, 60, passed away Tuesday (November 25, 2025) at Geneva General Hospital, Geneva, NY.

A celebration of life will be 2 PM Saturday (December 13) at the Finger Lakes Moose Lodge #823, 453 Waterloo-Geneva Road, Waterloo NY 13165.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the organization of one's choice.

Robert was born April 30, 1965 in Waterloo, NY, the son of Gary Gnau and Sharon Smalt. He was a 1984 graduate of Waterloo Central High School and went on to work as a technician for Central Weigh at Henkel in Geneva, NY.

Robert was a true family man with immeasurable love for his wife, children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and greatly enjoyed camping and the outdoors. Robert was also an active member of the Moose Club.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Malissa Ann Gnau of Waterloo, NY; children Jeffrey (Desiree) R. Gnau of Waterloo, NY, Jesse (Alexandria Dillon) R. Gnau of Wayland, NY, Joshua (Carrie) Read of Waterloo, NY and Ashley R. Gnau of FL; grandchildren Dominick Quigley, Jasmine (Seth) Margeson, Cassandra Gnau, Crue Read, Londyn Lizzi, Layn Lizzi, Evan Lizzi, Luna Gnau, Kaelin Larizza and Aurora Dillon; great-grandchildren Magnolia Quigley, Memphis Doyle, Maylee Quigley, and Ethan Margeson; sister Michelle (Tim) Lotz of FL; brother Glen Gnau of FL; stepmother Patricia Gnau of FL; mother and stepfather Sharon (Gary) Yancey; special cousins Lori (Lisa) Gnau and Kim Ashburn; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father.
