Ellen Baker (Lanphear), 74, of Waterloo, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

A memorial service will be 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 21, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 25 Center St., Waterloo, NY 13165, with Father James Fennessey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 10727, Rochester, NY 14610.

Born on January 11, 1951, in Waterloo, NY, Ellen was the beloved daughter of John "Jack" E. Lanphear. A proud and compassionate registered nurse, Ellen devoted many years of her career to caring for veterans before retiring from the Canandaigua VA Medical Center. Her deep respect for those who served our country and her unwavering commitment to helping others were evident in every aspect of her life.

Ellen—affectionately known to her family as "Mimi"—was a devout Catholic whose faith guided her through all seasons of life. She found joy in prayer, family gatherings, and the simple beauty of each day. Her creative spirit shone through her love of crocheting, and her handmade gifts will remain treasured reminders of her kindness and care. She was also an avid New York Yankees fan and loved watching NASCAR races, cheering on her favorite drivers with enthusiasm and heart.

She is survived by her devoted daughters, Jennifer (Don) Carpenter of Clyde, NY, and Che'rie (Terry) Shumaker of Canandaigua, NY; her cherished grandchildren Breauna Morehouse, Isabella Morehouse, Zachary Shumaker, Natalie (Jakob Larzelere, fiancé) D'Eredita, Layla D'Eredita, Peyton Carpenter, and Jax Carpenter; and her loving brothers John (Joann) Lanphear and Anthony (Mary Ann) Lanphear, both of Waterloo, NY.

Ellen was predeceased by her parents and her beloved son, James Morehouse.

Her warmth, faith, love for family will be remembered always.
