Larry was born September 15, 1948 in Waterloo, NY, the son of Richard and Doris (Felber) Hilimire. He graduated from Waterloo High School in 1966, SUNY Cobleskill in 1968, and RIT in 1972. While at RIT he played football, basketball, and was also a member of the golf team. He served in the National Guard from 1971-1977.
He was the owner of Stanton Automatics in Auburn, NY, which is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary. Larry went to Auburn in 1975 to take Stanton Automatics from a small thirteen location games and music company and turned it into one of New York's largest entertainment operations. As a businessman, Larry will be remembered for the profound impact he had on others. He has spent many years giving back to the industry, serving multiple terms on the Amusement and Music Operators Association and many years with fellow operators on the TouchTunes Advisory Board. Capping off his career, Larry was named the inaugural Michael Pace Integrity award winner in 2025.
Larry spent a lot of time within the community helping young people with sports. He was the founder of Waterloo Youth Hoop, which he directed for twelve years, leading to his induction into the Waterloo Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005. He, along with his 1966 high school basketball team, was then inducted again in 2024.
His many hobbies and interests included boating on both Seneca Lake and in the Fort Myers, FL area. He enjoyed motorcycling with friends, traveling to Sturgis and Daytona multiple times. Larry enjoyed his wine, visiting wineries across the Finger Lakes, California, and Europe, continuing to add to his wine collection.
Throughout the years, Larry played on several pool teams both in Auburn and Geneva, making great friends and promoting leagues to help area businesses grow. As an avid golfer he has been a lifetime member of the Seneca Falls Country Club. Most recently, he won the 2024 Super Senior Club Championship. He was also the Senior Club Champion in 2021 and 2022.
One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with family and friends, along with countless hours at the field or in the gym watching his grandchildren play sports.
Larry will be remembered for his zest for life, his strength of character, and his work ethic. He worked hard and he played hard. His enduring legacy is the profound impact he had on others.
