WATERLOO/AUBURN – Donald A. Eshenour, 72, passed away Tuesday (July 22, 2025) in Minoa, NY, following a brief illness.
Family and friends may call 11 AM to 12 PM Wednesday (August 6) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, 46 W. Main St., Waterloo, NY. The memorial service will follow at 12 PM at the funeral home. Fr. Fennessy, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterloo, NY.

Donald was born January 24, 1953 in Geneva, NY, the son of Donald R. and Jean Kierst Eshenour of Waterloo, NY. A member of the Waterloo High School Class of 1971, Don was a talented musician, composer, and a lifelong advocate for social justice. He began his college studies as a Navy ROTC student at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, and later continued his education at Cayuga County Community College and SUNY Plattsburgh.
Don dedicated much of his life to serving others. He volunteered as a literacy tutor at Auburn Prison and generously shared his musical gifts in many settings. He played in the folk group at St. Mary's Church, brought music to healthcare and nursing home environments, and found joy performing with his friends at Northbrook Heights in Auburn, NY, where he resided for the past decade.
He is survived by his three siblings: William (Marjorie) Eshenour, Carol (Gregg) McCrary, and Helen Eshenour Stepowany; aunt Marylou Irland; along with many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents.
