WATERLOO — Sandra Louise Ames, 83, passed away Saturday (May 31, 2025) at Geneva General Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Family and friends may call 6 PM to 8 PM Tuesday (June 10) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, 46 W. Main St., Waterloo, NY. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 10727, Rochester, NY 14610.

Sandra was born April 20, 1942 in Geneva, NY, the daughter of Edward and Bertha Allen Dudash. She received her GED from Phoenix University in 2001, and worked in the bobbing room at Seneca Knitting Mill, Seneca Falls, NY. Sandra also worked at the Seneca Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Waterloo, NY.

Sandy (as most people called her) had a love of country music, dancing with her husband as well as her sons. We remember many a jamboree with her whole family, even the littlest grandchild, in attendance. She loved doing crafts and puzzles; in her younger years, she loved to camp. Sandy was her family's seamstress, from the smallest zipper to Halloween costumes. Sandy was always there for her family and for others; always ready to lend a hand: a donation, a basket for raffles, and buying as many tickets for whatever her grandchildren were selling. She loved to cook and bake, and loved having her family around. Sandy was a member of Tops NY 801, which she greatly enjoyed.

Sandy had a loving heart and was loved by many: a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Sandy quietly departed this life with family by her side. Our mom, grandma, great grandma will be painfully missed.

Sandy is survived by her 5 children, Robert Ames, Sr. of Auburn, NY, Timothy (Toni) Ames, Sr. of Geneva, NY, Jeffrey Ames of Lyons, NY, and Samantha (Anna) Ames and Bradley Ames of Waterloo, NY; grandchildren Charles Witzel, John Paul Ames, Robert Ames, Jr., Timothy Ames, Jr., Brandon Ames, Chyna Ames, Chris Ames, Phajuan Ames, Jasmine Ames, Mike (Jamie Gilfus) Ames, Cody (Katherine Madden) Ames, Ashley (Nick Fabino) Ames, Kassandra (Gary) Stewart, Shawna (Troy) Hebbard and Brittany (Brandon) Bennett; 16 great-grandchildren; many cousins; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Duane Roscoe Ames, in 2004; daughter-in-law Patty Jo Ames in 2018; and several aunts and uncles.
