Obituary of Dale Carter Arcangeli

ROMULUS — Dale Carter Arcangeli, 74, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (February 26, 2025) at his home.
The memorial service will be Saturday (March 8) at 10 AM at Ovid Federated Church, 7137 Main Street, Ovid, NY 14521, followed by a reception. Rev. J. Robert Mellgard, pastor of the church, will officiate.
Dale was born on November 9, 1950, in Seneca Falls, NY, to Angelo A. and Grace G. Creswell Arcangeli. A 1968 graduate of Interlaken Central School, he later earned an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice from Monroe Community College and completed his Bachelor's degree at Eastern Kentucky University. Dale devoted 26 years of his life to the Seneca County Sheriff's Department, retiring as Chief Deputy in 1998. Over the course of his career, he advanced from a junior officer to the chief deputy position. He played a key role in establishing both the mounted patrol and SCUBA team within the department. Dale was a proud member of his community, serving as a South Seneca School Board member. After retirement, he was an investigator at the Finger Lakes Racetrack. Outside of his professional life, Dale had a passion for woodworking, crafting and enjoyed spending time outdoors. In his later years, Dale could often be found at the Ovid McDonald's or Rylee's Place, where he cherished time spent with friends, neighbors or anyone who would listen to one of his stories.
Dale is survived by sons Justin (Elizabeth) M. Arcangeli of Rochester, NY and Bryan (Linda) D. Arcangeli of Stevens City, Virginia; grandchildren Scott (Amber) Rich and Alexandrea (Tyler) Smoot; great grandchildren Rebekah, Skyla, Dylan and Cody Dale; brother Dean (Patty) Arcangeli of Ovid, NY; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Dale is also survived by his partner of six years, Char Butson.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Tracy, in 2009; and his parents.
