Obituary of Phillip Wayne Mooneyhan

WATERLOO — Phillip Wayne Mooneyhan, 79, passed away Friday (February 21, 2025) at Geneva General Hospital, Geneva, NY.
In keeping with the family's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pathway Home of the Finger Lakes, PO Box 516, Seneca Falls, NY 13148 or Rochester Regional Health Foundations, 330 Monroe Avenue, Suite 400, Rochester, NY 14607, designated to the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic Fund.
Phillip was born September 19, 1945 in St. Charles, VA, the son of Roy Edward and Lily Thomas Mooneyhan. Phillip was a retired Sergeant major, serving in the United States Army for 25 years. After retiring, he worked as a security guard for Morris Protective Services, Inc. at Goulds Pumps, Seneca Falls, NY. Phillip loved nature and the outdoors, including birdwatching and volksmarching, a non-competitive group hike to enjoy the trails and socialize with others. He was also a very talented woodworker. Phillip adored spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed 54 years of marriage with his wife, Sally. He was a member of the Warner Van Riper Post 435, American Legion in Waterloo, and volunteered for Vince Lombardi football for many years.
Phillip is survived by his loving wife, Sally Ann Mooneyhan of Waterloo, NY; sons James (Shara) Mooneyhan of Waterloo, NY, Jeffrey (Kathryn) Mooneyhan of Seneca Falls, NY, David (Renee) Mooneyhan of Moravia, NY and Shawn (Mandy) Mooneyhan of Waterloo, NY; grandchildren Emily, Aiden, Nathan, Connor, Colin, Ari and Alek Mooneyhan; brothers James Mooneyhan of Pickard, IN and Eugene (Jeanette) Mooneyhan of Pennington Gap, VA; and sisters Mary Sexton and Barbara (Ronnie) McFarland of Pennington Gap, VA.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers LeRoy and Michael Mooneyhan; and sister-in-law Shirley Woliver.
