Obituary of David Bruce Ridley

WATERLOO — David Bruce Ridley, 75, passed away Thursday (February 20, 2025) at F.F. Thompson Hospital, Canandaigua, NY. In keeping with the family's wishes, there will be no calling hours or service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516. David was born January 13, 1950 in Waterloo, NY, the son of Donald "Doc" Alton Ridley and Clara Loudusky Steele Ridley. He was a 1968 graduate of Waterloo Central High School, and went on to serve in the United States Army in Germany from 1969 to 1971. David retired after 44 years as a machinist at Evans Chemetics in Waterloo, NY. He enjoyed fishing, country music and watching his grandchildren play sports. David also loved watching New York Yankees games with his wife, Rita. He was a member of the American Legion Warner-VanRiper Post 435 in Waterloo. David is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Rita Ann Ridley of Waterloo, NY; children Ivy (Jared) Harris of Rochester, NY and Brian (Caitlin) Ridley of Farmington, NY; grandchildren Kayla (Casey Boor) LaDue, Justin (Skylar) Harris, Peyton Ridley, Gavin Ridley, Senett Bombard, and Paxton Bombard; brothers Donald "Toby" (Sally) Ridley of Seneca Falls, NY, Richard (Kristine) Ridley of Phelps, NY and Scott (Tammy) Ridley of Seneca Falls, NY; sisters Barbara Woodard of Ovid, NY, Christine Bailey of Waterloo, NY, Patricia Gnau of FL, and Dawn Canfield of Seneca Falls, NY; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and youngest brother Bryan Paul Ridley.
