WATERLOO - Marie Antoinette Toni Battaglia, age 90, of 95 Church Street, Waterloo, NY, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday (December 14, 2022) with family at her side.

Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, Waterloo, on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 10 AM.

Marie was born on May 25, 1932, in Seneca Falls, NY. She graduated from Mynderse Academy, and then obtained degrees from Cayuga Community College, Nazareth College in Rochester (Bachelor's) and SUNY Oswego (Master's), which she achieved while raising 4 children and working. She was a special education teacher and advocate at both Mynderse Academy in Seneca Falls and Waterloo Senior High School.

Marie was a devoted mother and grandmother, and active in many causes. She was a member of the SMS Auxiliary in Seneca Falls and the Phi Beta Psi Cancer Research Sorority in Waterloo. Her many hobbies included bocce, golf, shopping, tutoring, and swimming. In Myrtle Beach, she spent her winters making blankets for the children's hospital and scarves for the homeless. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Charles, in 2018. Together they spent many years enjoying worldwide and continental US travel, and spending winters in the South.

She is also survived by her two sons, one daughter, and many grandchildren and great- grandchildren: Tom (Anne) Battaglia of Seneca Falls, Michelle (Graham) Chapman (Carter and Scarlett) of Rochester; and Lea Battaglia (Danny Galusha) (Hazel) of Rochester; Terry (Debbie) Battaglia of Seneca Falls (Chris (Mae) of Ohio and Holly of California), and daughter, Cara-Leigh Battaglia (Darrald Jensen) of Seneca Falls (Christal Jensen Kent and Nickoli), and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents John Antonio Toni and Rose (Quinta Rossi) Toni, and her brother, James Toni. She will be greatly missed.
