Obituary of Elsie Hellen Brown

Fayette – Elsie Schmidt Stuck Brown, 82, of 2505 Fayette Varick Townline Rd., died Friday (July 6, 2018) at Living Center at Geneva North. There will be no calling hours or services. Memorial contributions may be made to the organization of one's choice. Elsie was born May 25, 1936, in Montour Falls, NY, the daughter J. Earl and Hazel A. Dill Schmidt. She was a graduate of Trumansburg High School. Elsie graduated from Cornell University – New York Hospital School of Nursing as an LPN. She began her nursing career at Houtenbrink's Nursing Home in Waterloo. Leaving Houtenbrink's she was employed with Taylor-Brown Memorial Hospital, until the closing of that hospital, then transferred to Geneva General Hospital. She retired after 40 years of nursing. She was a member of the International American Charolais Association. She and her husband owned beef cattle for many years. Elsie loved genealogy, plus arts and crafts. She also loved baking and was known for her pies. She is survived by her husband, James W. Brown; son, Steven (Karen) Stuck of Clyde, NY; daughters, Connie (Gary) DeWall of Waterloo, NY and Carol (Rick) Waite of Romulus, NY; stepson, Scott (Anne) Brown of Geneva, NY; stepdaughters, Kathy (Dieter) Ryrko of Seneca Falls, NY, Sharlene (Dwight) Wilson of Fayette, NY, Colleen (Amy) Brown of Seneca Falls, NY, and Jodi (Gloria) Brown of Varick, NY; grandchildren, Jennifer (Tom) Jolly, Michael DeWall, Kevin (Kerry) DeWall, Jason (Rebecca) Waite, Joshua Waite, and Megan Waite; seven stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Helen) Schmidt of Trumansburg, NY; many nieces and nephews. Elsie was predeceased by brothers, Glenn Schmidt and Howard Schmidt. Condolences for the family may be sent to www.coegenungfuneralhome.com.
