SENECA FALLS - William "Bill" H. Parish, Jr, 79, of Seneca Falls, died Thursday (October 5, 2017) in the Leo Center for Caring in Rochester, NY. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday (Oct.10) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo, N.Y. The funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home. Burial will be in Canoga Cemetery, Fayette, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fresenius Kidney Care Freedom Center of Newark, 305 W. Shore Blvd., Newark, NY, 14513 or Leo Center for Caring, 1500 Portland Ave., Rochester, NY, 14621. Bill was born Dec. 16, 1937, in Seneca Falls, N.Y., the son of William H., Sr., and Reba Parish. He was a graduate of Mynderse Academy in Seneca Falls, N.Y.. Bill was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Army from 1956 to 1959. He married Darlene K. Shipley of Champaign, IL, Jan. 31, 1960. He moved to Champaign/Urbana Illinois where he became an avid race car driver and won many track championships, setting many track records. Bill, Darlene and their three children returned to Seneca County in 1977, where Bill worked for Springbrook Grain as a truck driver, eventually owning and operating his own trucking business. He continued to drive truck until his retirement in 2014, retiring to take care of his failing wife of 54 years. Bill enjoyed racing, watching races, cooking and spending time with friends just talking about his many years of trucking experience. He was always one to lend a helping hand to anyone, no matter what. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends. He is survived by his children Nancy (Walt Case) Lind of Waterloo, N.Y., Robert (Ruth) Parish of Homer, Ill., and Karen (Dale) Roloson of Seneca Falls, N.Y.; grandchildren Amanda Young, Emily (Tom) McDonald, Rob Parish, Brandon (Holly) Parish, Ellen (Deck) Benson, Chantel Parish, Tony (Amy) McConaha, Tisha (Mark) Plonese, Jesse (Haley) McConaha, Rebecca Roloson and Zach Roloson; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers Dave Parish, Lynn (Celeste) Parish and John (Lindsey) Parish; sisters Marie Parish, Karen (Dale) Lewis and Kathryn (Carl) Thurston; several nieces and nephews, including Rick Thurston and Fred Parish, Jr., whom he was very close to. Bill was predeceased by his loving wife, Darlene K. Parish, Nov. 25, 2014; brothers Charles and Fred Parish. Condolences for the family may be sent to www.coegenungfuneralhome.com.
