Waterloo – John "Jack" R. DeWall, 77, of 1400 Rt. 96, Apt. C32, died Tuesday (May 16, 2017) at Geneva General Hospital, with loving family by his side. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday (May 22) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. Military rites by members of Waterloo Memorial Day Post 6433, V.F.W. and Warner VanRiper Post 435, American Legion will be 6:30 p.m. Monday (May 22) at the funeral home. The memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday (May 23) at the funeral home. Rev. James Fennessy, pastor of St. Francis/St. Clare parish, will officiate. Burial will be in Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Varick, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Warner VanRiper Post 435, American Legion, 7 E. William St., Waterloo, NY, 13165. John was born Nov. 2, 1939, in Waterloo, NY, the son of Raymond J. and Alice VanNostrand DeWall. He was a 1957 graduate of Waterloo High School. John served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Intrepid from 1958 to 1962. He was employed for a short time with Seneca Knitting Mill in Seneca Falls. Leaving employment at Seneca Knitting, John was employed with C and P Telephone Company in Maryland. Returning to the Waterloo area, he was employed with Evans Chemetics for 23 years. He also worked for the Auto Specialist in Waterloo, since 2002. John was bar steward for Warner VanRiper Post 435, American Legion. He was a longtime member of Waterloo Memorial Post 6433, V.F.W. and Warner VanRiper Post, 435, American Legion. John loved fishing, gardening, cooking, Dirt Racing, and an avid NASCAR Fan. John is survived by his wife of 56 years, whom he married April 15, 1961, Patricia "Pat" E. Hawkins DeWall; daughters, Sherrie (Rob) Harding of Waterloo, NY, Jackie (Joe) McCann of Albany, GA, and Debbie (Dave) Lockett of Waterloo, NY; grandchildren, Kerry (Rob) Harkins, T.J. (Sydney Rogers) Radka, Ryan Harding, Katelyn Harding, Daniellle McCann, and Sarah McCann; great-grandchildren, Addesyn Harkins, Logan Harkins, Liam Radka, and Camden Bishop; sister, Patricia (Bill) Brown of Lowville, NY; and two nieces.
