Waterloo - Mary C. Scannell, 86, of Waterloo, died Tuesday (March 29, 2016) at Seneca Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Waterloo, with her loving family by her side. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday (April 1) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday (April 2) at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rev. James Fennessy, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Waterloo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church, 25 Center St., Waterloo, NY, 13165 or Alzheimer's Association, 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY, 14620. Mary was born April 10, 1929 in Waterloo, the daughter of Frank and Lena Biviano Adamo. Mary was a graduate of St. Mary's School. She then attended Waterloo High School, graduating in 1947. Mary began employment at Goodman's 5 & 10 Store. Leaving Goodman's she worked at Westcott Rule in Seneca Falls for a while, later she was employed at Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls, until her retirement. During her retirement she enjoyed being a classroom grandma assistant at Great Beginnings Preschool. Mary was a longtime and active communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. She is survived by daughters, Diane (Douglas) Hay and Susan (Marty Acee) Elliotto both in Waterloo; son, Ronald Scannell of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, Scott (Cindy Sweeney) Elliotto of Massapegua, Steve (Darcy) Hay of N. C., Stacey (Bill) Legg of Gorham, Jason Elliotto, of Chili, Kim (John Solomito) Hay, David Scannell and Colby Scannell of Waterloo and Michelle (David) Ross of Plattsburgh; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Justin, Jenna, and Ryan Elliotto, Caitlin and Courtney Hay, Jarod and Carson Hay-Snyder, Collin, Makayla, Aubrey, and Olivia Ross; brother, Richard (Millie) Adamo of Sedona, AZ; sisters, Shirley Mitchell and Betty (Vip) Peterson, and Sandy (Tom) Panciccia of Ontario; sister-in-law, Shirley Mitchell of Ontario; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her mother, Lena Adamo; father and step-mother, Frank and Mary Adamo, daughter, Joanne Scannell; brother, Peter Mitchell; and step-brother, Joseph Adamo.
