Waterloo - James A. Spina, 72, of 2475 Maney Rd., died Sunday (March 20, 2016) at his home with his loving family by his side. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday (March 23) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday (March 24) at the funeral home. Rev. James Fennessy, pastor of St. Francis and St. Clare Parish, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Waterloo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to organization of one's choice. James was born July 8, 1943 in Geneva, the son of James J. and Alice C. Palmer Spina. He attended school in Geneva. Jim was a U.S. Army veteran having served his country from 1961 to 1963. Jim then learned the baking trade and worked at various bakeries in the area. Then he worked at Sylvania for a couple of years and later, worked for Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls, for 36 years until his retirement. He is survived by wife of 52 years, Linda Spina; sons, Joseph (Melissa) Spina of Cayuga and Christopher (Tammy) Spina of Waterloo; daughters, Lisa (Peter) Blokhuis of Stanley, Robin (Donald Naegele) Urich and Jamie (Derek) Excell both of Waterloo; grandchildren, Benjamin (Allison) Spina, Mikhaila Blokhuis, Brianna Urich, Emma Urich, Melaina Naegele, Brittany Naegele, Jakaub Spina, Hunter Spina, Ashley Spina, Alyssa (Joniel) Lopez, Moriah Excell, Taylor Excell, and Derek Excell, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Quinn Spina and Elena Lopez; uncle, Thomas (Carol) Spina of Geneva; many nieces and nephews; and many close friends. Jim was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Richard and Nicholas Spina; and sisters, Virginia Morrealle and Linda Huling. Condolences for the family may be sent to www.coegenungfuneralhome.com.
